About Sovereign Whale

A Directory For People Building Lives, Businesses, And Wealth Across Borders

About Us

Cross-border planning is genuinely hard, the stakes are high, and the existing options for finding good professionals reward visibility rather than competence. Sovereign Whale is an attempt to build something better. We connect readers with professionals working in global mobility, international tax, wealth structuring, financial services, and lifestyle decisions across borders. Our readers are not looking for sales tactics, packaged plans, or one-size-fits-all advice. They are willing to do their own thinking and want a platform that supports it rather than replace it. Our directory is searchable by jurisdiction, service category, and client profile. Every listing includes the firm’s services, regions covered, and direct contact information.

Our resources cover what cross-border life actually involves, and what people need to know about navigating it well. Articles are written and reviewed by our team, and updated as rules and programs change.

Our platform is free for readers. There is no paywall, no subscription, and no obligation to engage with any listed firm.

Meet Our Founder

I have lived abroad for eighteen years and spent most of my career working inside the international planning industry. From both sides, as a professional and as a client, I have watched the same pattern repeat. People assume that a licensed firm with a long history and a polished website is a safe choice. Sometimes it is. Sometimes it is not. I have worked alongside well-known firms that charged serious money for work that was rushed, generic, or simply wrong. I have seen clients pay six figures for plans that fell apart on contact with reality. And I have made my own cross-border mistakes, the kind that come from trusting the wrong source or relying on advice that sounded confident but was not informed.

What I learned, slowly and at some cost, is that longevity and credentials are not the same as quality. A firm can be licensed, established, and visible in every search result and still do bad work. Finding the right professional is mostly about knowing which questions to ask, which warning signs to take seriously, and which people genuinely take the work seriously.

That information is hard to come by. AI has made it easier to find names and surface options, but it cannot tell you which of those names are actually any good. Most directories monetize listings without filtering them. Most editorial coverage is sponsored. The reader is left to figure it out alone.

I started building Sovereign Whale in 2024. The first attempts failed, for reasons that mostly came down to underestimating how much careful work a platform like this actually requires. Each iteration taught me something about what the directory needed to be and what it could not afford to become. The version launching in 2026 is the result.

Sovereign Whale is the resource I wish I had when I started my journey.

Our Mission

Sovereign Whale is built for people making real cross-border decisions. They are choosing where to live, where to hold residency or citizenship, how to structure assets across jurisdictions, and how to manage the tax and reporting complexity that follows.

Our mission is to make honest, high-quality cross-border guidance accessible to anyone willing to do the work. Every part of the platform, from how listings are reviewed to how articles are written, is built around that purpose. No paywalls. No sales pressure. No quiet financial relationships behind the scenes. Just access to the people and information that help readers make serious decisions with clarity.

Sovereign Whale is built on three commitments:

Verified Listings

Verification involves a credentials check, regulatory verification with the relevant authority, a background review of the firm and key stakeholders, a public reputation review, and a direct call with the team.

No Commissions

We are not paid when a reader contacts a firm. There are no referral fees, no kickbacks, and no incentive to push one listing over another. Readers contact firms through the listing, on their own terms.

Independent Editorial

Articles are written and reviewed by our team. Sponsored content may also appear in our resource section, and when it does it will be clearly labelled as such. Author by-lines are visible on every article.

Frequently Asked Questions

When was Sovereign Whale founded?

Sovereign Whale was founded in 2024 and launched publicly in 2026 after several rounds of refinement. The years between were spent building the directory, developing the verification process, and establishing the editorial standards that define the platform today.

What countries and jurisdictions does Sovereign Whale cover?
The directory is global. Listings span jurisdictions across the Americas, Europe, the Caribbean, Asia, the Middle East, and Africa. Coverage continues to expand as new professionals are added and verified.
Does Sovereign Whale offer advice directly?
No. Sovereign Whale is a directory and publication, not an advisory firm. We do not provide legal, tax, financial, or immigration advice. Articles are educational and the directory exists to help readers find professionals who do offer advice.
Is Sovereign Whale free to use?
Yes. Our directory and publication are free to browse, search, and use. There is no paywall, no subscription, and no charge for contacting any listed professional.
Are listings ranked by payment?
Verified Listings appear above unverified listings in search results. Verification requires a paid monthly fee, so in practice paying does affect placement. What the fee does not buy is the verification itself. Every firm that pays is reviewed against the same standards, and firms that do not pass the review do not receive the badge regardless of payment. Within Verified Listings, and within unverified listings, results are ordered by relevance to the reader’s query.
Is my information shared when I contact a firm?
When you contact a firm through its listing, your inquiry is sent directly to that firm. Sovereign Whale does not sell, share, or repurpose contact details for marketing or any other reason. The firm you contact will have your information for the purpose of responding to your inquiry, and any further communication is between you and them.
Can I leave reviews on listings?
Yes. Readers who have worked with a listed firm can submit a review through the firm’s listing page. Reviews are moderated for relevance and authenticity but are not edited for content. Listings display reviews openly, including critical ones, so readers can form their own view.
Who writes the articles?

Articles are produced by the Sovereign Whale team, with contributions from professionals working in the fields we cover. Every article carries a visible byline linking to the author’s bio.

Can I trust the information in the articles?
Articles are written and reviewed by people working in the fields they cover. Where rules, programs, or regulations are referenced, sources are cited and we make our best effort to update articles as the underlying information changes. Programs and regulations can change without notice, so readers should always confirm the latest details with a qualified professional before acting. Author bylines link to bios so readers can assess the writer’s background directly.
How are listings verified?

Verification involves several layers. We confirm the firm’s credentials and regulatory standing with the relevant authority, conduct a background review of the firm and its key stakeholders, and review the firm’s public reputation across review platforms, industry forums, and other public sources. We then hold a direct call with the team. Only firms that pass this review receive the Verified Listing badge.

Can professionals apply to be listed?

Yes. Any qualified professional can apply for a free basic listing or for Verified Listing status. Verification is subject to passing the review described above.

What does it cost professionals to be listed?

Basic listings are free. Verified Listings involve a monthly fee, which covers the cost of the verification process and ongoing review. Verification is offered to any firm that meets the standards, regardless of size or budget.

Does Sovereign Whale earn commission from listed firms?

No. We do not take commission, referral fees, or any payment when a reader contacts a firm. Verification is a separate paid service offered to firms on a monthly basis, and the standards are the same regardless of who applies. Please view our process here.

How is Sovereign Whale different from other directories?

Most directories monetize listings without filtering them, and most editorial coverage in this space is sponsored or paid for. Sovereign Whale separates the two. Listings are reviewed before they are verified, the platform takes no commission, and editorial content is produced independently of any commercial relationship with listed firms.

What happens if a Verified firm changes or its standards slip?

Verified Listings are reviewed periodically. If a firm’s circumstances change in a way that affects the verification, the badge can be revoked. Readers who experience concerning behavior from any listed firm can contact the editorial team directly.

How often is the directory updated?

The directory is updated continuously as new listings are added, existing firms update their information, and verifications are renewed or revoked. Verified Listings are reviewed periodically to confirm that the firm remains in good standing.
